Gas Hose Flexing, Airtightness and Pressure Test Laboratory Planning Guide

Gas hose flexing airtightness and pressure test laboratory

Gas appliance connection hoses must maintain sealing and mechanical integrity during installation and long-term use. Bending, vibration, swing movement, pressure and connector impact can all affect safety. A complete laboratory therefore needs more than one simple leakage tester; it should combine airtightness, pressure resistance, flexing and post-test verification.

Typical test modules

  • Airtightness testing for hose bodies, connectors and seals;
  • Pressure resistance testing using air or water according to the test plan;
  • Static bending and flexibility measurement;
  • Swing flexing endurance for repeated movement;
  • Vibration and impact resistance where applicable;
  • Post-mechanical-test leakage verification.

Laboratory configuration

A modular configuration is often more practical than one large combined machine. Airtightness and pressure tests need stable pressure control, accurate sensors and safe relief. Flexing and swing tests need mechanical motion, angle control and cycle counting. Different hose diameters and connector types require interchangeable fixtures.

Pressure safety

Pressure testing should include upper-limit protection, controlled filling, holding time, relief logic and protective guarding. Water pressure is often safer for higher pressure verification because it stores less energy than compressed gas. For air leakage testing, the selected method should match the pressure range, allowable leakage and production speed.

Fixture management

Connector sizes and hose structures vary widely. Laboratories should maintain a fixture library with identification numbers, standard connectors and setup instructions. This reduces operator error and improves repeatability across different batches and product models.

Data and traceability
