Air delivery and energy efficiency are important ceiling-fan performance parameters, but mechanical operating stability is equally important during product development. Differences in blade mass, blade angle, motor balance, mounting alignment and suspension structure may cause visible wobble or periodic vibration.
Manual visual inspection can identify severe movement but cannot provide accurate and repeatable engineering data. A ceiling fan wobble, vibration and operating stability test system can continuously measure mechanical behaviour at different operating speeds.
Laser displacement sensors can be positioned near a defined reference point on the fan assembly. During operation, the sensor continuously records displacement. The software can calculate maximum displacement, minimum displacement, peak-to-peak movement, average wobble amplitude and periodic movement trends.
This method provides much more useful engineering information than manually observing the fan against a ruler or visual reference.
For advanced product development, vibration sensors may be installed at selected locations on the motor housing, suspension structure or other specified points. Measurements can be compared during start-up, low-speed operation, medium-speed operation, high-speed operation, acceleration, deceleration and extended continuous operation.
Recording RPM at the same time as vibration is important. If vibration increases strongly only within one RPM range and then decreases again, the problem may be associated with structural resonance rather than simple blade imbalance.
The system can perform continuous operation tests over a user-defined period. RPM, displacement, vibration and electrical parameters are stored automatically. Trend analysis can reveal a gradual increase in wobble that may result from loosening joints, bearing changes, thermal effects or structural deformation.
The system is suitable for new-product structural validation, blade-design comparison, motor comparison, sample-consistency testing, assembly-process verification and long-term reliability analysis.
Shenzhen LSKFT Testing Instruments Co., Ltd. can design ceiling-fan test frames according to fan diameter, installation height, maximum speed and laboratory space, while integrating displacement, vibration, RPM and electrical measurement into one software platform.
