IP5X and IP6X Dust Test Chamber Selection Guide for Enclosure Protection Testing

Dust test chambers simulate a dusty environment to evaluate the protection of electrical enclosures. They are widely used for outdoor lighting, automotive electronics, sensors, control cabinets, cleaning appliances and industrial devices that may operate in dusty conditions.

IP5X and IP6X testing focus

IP5X testing evaluates whether dust ingress may affect product operation or safety, while IP6X testing is used for dust-tight requirements. The test condition may involve dust circulation, specimen operation and optional vacuum depending on the applicable standard and enclosure design.

Maintenance recommendations
